Robert Petteway | Our Founder
The founder of Myopractic® is Robert Petteway. In clinical practice since 1980, Robert had the unique ability to take complex structural, biomechanical and muscular relationships and create a simple approach that works to relieve posture imbalances and associated chronic pain.
Robert was educated and experience in biomechanics, acupuncture and oriental medicine, and a wide variety of muscle therapies. In 1995 he was even voted “Best Massage Therapist In Houston” by the readers of the Houston Press. Robert worked closely with physicians, surgeons, and chiropractors for nearly 30 years, and devoted the last 19 years of his career to developing the effective Myopractic® System.
Rebecca Atwell
Rebecca graduated from the original Baltimore School of Massage in 1997. She has been an instructor of the Myopractic® techniques since 2003 and loves sharing it with others. In her own words…
“Through Myopractic® I learned that ‘the spot’ of the pain was not necessarily the source. I learned to do very effective deep tissue work that was profound. It was both healing to the client and easy for me physically. After 30 years of doing the Myopractic® techniques, I can still work for hours. I do not tire. My hands and body never hurt, during or after the massage. Even at the end of what most would consider a long day, 8 to 10 hours or more, I’m energized.
I have taken many continued education classes over the years — from cupping to isometrics, from hot stones to other deep tissue approaches. But whichever modality I use with a particular client, I always incorporate the Myopractic® concepts of soft hands, relaxed body, working with the clients body and working with ease. The work is joyful and rewarding for both me and my clients.”
